Best of the Best
This photo tour will bring you from contemporary to medieval age:
enjoy today’s and yesterday’s Milan landmarks… in a single package!
This photo tour starts from ultra-modern Piazza Gae Aulenti, Milan’s new majestic landmark, exploring details and reflections of the buildings surrounding the square. We will discuss the importance of vantage points walking on an elevated pedestrian area.
From here, we’ll travel back in time to the medieval Castello Sforzesco before moving to Brera district, home to the Academy of Fine Arts and the eponymous Pinacoteca, which prominently contributed to the development of Brera as an artists’ neighborhood and a place of bohemian heritage, sometimes referred to as “the milanese Montmartre“.
From there we can venture through backstreets to the Orto Botanico. In the right season we might practice with some macro shooting and then go through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele (aka ‘Milan’s living room’) with its infamous bull ritual (book this tour for details).
The tour will end in Piazza del Duomo, where we will look for the best angles to capture cathedral’s gothic architecture and the shadows casted by the colonnades facing the square. Depending on weather conditions and tourists crowds, we have the option of climbing to the rooftop of the Duomo for stunning views of the city and of the spires up close.
As an alternative, rest assured that we’ll throw in some hidden corners and surprise items: old narrow streets, skulls and bones, giant fingers (!?) and much more!
Perfect for: travel photography, street photography, landscape photography.
